BIOGRAPHY
Tom Waterworth is a multi-instrumentalist music producer, composer and performer. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2019 with first-class honours in Contemporary and Popular Music, majoring in studio-based composition. During his studies, Tom spent a year abroad reading music technology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in the USA. Since graduating, he has continued to push his creative and technical practices across a range of disciplines, developing his skills as a musician, audio engineer, film technician and photographer.

From an early age, Tom has been fascinated by creating and arranging sounds. Having started on piano at the age of 7, Tom has accumulated and taught himself how to play a wide range of musical instruments, performing in various bands and solo projects–on and off stage–for most of his life. With experience in classical, jazz, pop, electronic and experimental genres, he has spent much of the past decade writing and recording music, exploring the boundaries of where these two practices meet and how one can inform the other. Tom has gained valuable hands-on experience in numerous professional recording studios, but has spent a lot of time working as a bedroom-producer, mixing and mastering for both clients and his own music.

Waterworth’s solo project, Firesites, has seen a lot of positive coverage since its creation in 2017, including support from the BBC, with several features and airplay on their Introducing channels. Despite its hindrance on live shows, the COVID-19 lockdown provided Firesites with several opportunities to collaborate with international artists on projects such as Gardenhead Records’ Pandemic Artist Relief compilation, Fontana’s Boots and Cats EP, and WMBC’s Virtual Underground Online Music Festival.

Tom is constantly making music and always looking to collaborate with other artists who are equally passionate about their work.
